The History and People Behind Mariah-Belle
Welcome to Mariah-Belle Manor
Mariah-Belle Manor Pet Care offers dog care services (Boarding, Bathing & Day Camp), but it’s how we make those services happen that makes us special. I did not set out to start the first Green Kennel in Maryland or host Pet Tips & Raising Connections Radio Programs. I started Mariah-Belle Manor Pet Care as a labor of love and a place to apply my knowledge of Microbiology and Chemistry into quality pet bathing & care products.
Mariah-Belle Manor is a special place to me, my family & the folks who work here. First it’s my family’s home. My husband Tim and I first moved to Mount Airy from graduate school at The Hershey Medical Center, Pennsylvania State University. I’m from a family farm in Southern Indiana, while Tim spent years in the Navy on board the USS Enterprise. We were living in Mount Airy and doing the commute to corporate biotech positions. In 2002, we purchased the TedJoi Kennel property which became Mariah-Belle Manor.
In 2005, Mariah-Belle Manor Pet Care started, and the first Green kennel in Maryland came to life. In 2009, I left my day-to-day Biotech and Organ Model Development position to manage Mariah-Belle Manor Kennel full-time and embark on my radio adventures – now known as Mariah-Belle Manor Pet Tips and Raising Connections. I had come full circle combining my love for animals, education, family and science.
Now, twenty years later, Mariah-Belle Manor Pet Care is in the top 10% of pet care services in the United States, according to the International Pet Care Services Association.
“Comfort & Care with a Personal Touch” is how we run our Boarding, Bathing & Day Camp/Care programs. We offer a unique “Bed & Breakfast” style boarding enriched by our Day Care Activities program and focusing on what the guests need during their stay with us. Each pup is different and yet similar, as the pups age and change, so do their needs. Some dogs need attention and belly rubs, others need extra time running in the yards, and others just need to be talked with and treats to win trust.
Folks ask, “How do you know when you’ve done a good job? When the dogs go home happy?” I have to chuckle and answer “Nope. When the dogs are excited to come back. I love to see drool on the side of the car.”
